I have all sorts of made up, self-imposed food rules that dictate what I'm willing to cook. In general, I usually only cook meals that are fairly quick and easy, feature fresh produce (sometimes meat), and include some store-bought sauces or flavorings, since I don't want to be bothered making my own mayo or salad dressing. In many cases, my "recipes" essentially consist of warming something up. When looking for something tasty to eat on this site, keep in mind that the recipe probably follows these rules:
1. I'm scared to death of my oven and avoid using it. Almost every recipe on this blog can be cooked without the use of an oven. I've called a truce with the stove, microwave, crock pot, and George Foreman grill.
2. I refuse to cook pork and mollusks.
3. Raw meat completely grosses me out. If a recipe needs meat, I find a way to cook it without actually touching it.
4. I don't own a cookbook and am usually too lazy to look up recipes. I just make things up based on what I have in the house.
5. I sort of measure things, but not really. For your convenience, I've converted my quantities (a squirt of this, a handful of that) into approximate conventional measurements.
6. I'm impatient. Pretty much everything is cooked on high heat.
7. I hate emptying the dishwasher so I try to minimize the number of dishes used to make a meal. Most of my "meals" consist of a single dish.
8. If I made something and I think it would be inedible to the general population, I won't include it here, even if it is pretty in a picture. Unless it is really pretty, and then I might. I'll try to remember to warn you though.
